Books

Long-form, one idea at a time

Essays are where ideas start. Books are where they get the room to connect. This is where my writing goes deeper — beginning with my first book.

Cover of The Bottleneck Moved by Shrey Kumar Jain: people stuck in a maze of paper stacks on one side, the paper dissolving into a flowing, glowing path where people work with AI on the other.

Now with a small group of early readers for proofreading and feedback. The free ebook is coming soon.

The Bottleneck Moved

What stays human when AI does the work

When execution becomes cheap, value doesn't disappear — it moves. This book follows it.

The Bottleneck Moved is an engineer's attempt to understand what is actually shifting underneath the AI hype: where the bottlenecks are moving, what becomes scarce when building gets easy, why some of our instincts about hard work and expertise are starting to mislead us, and which kinds of human contribution become more valuable, not less.

It began as a question at AI BUILDCON 26 in Bengaluru. Speaker after speaker talked about how fast AI was growing and how to keep it under control — and almost nobody talked about the people on the other side of it. This book is my attempt to.

It isn't a technical manual or a list of tools. It's twenty-two chapters, written to be read as one argument, about work, craft, judgment, and identity in the age of AI.

Early praise

“Not really a book about AI; it is a book about value creation in a world where intelligence is becoming abundant. … It offers clarity amidst the noise and provides a perspective that is equally relevant in the boardroom as it is in engineering teams.”
CA Shailendra PatniCFO, Raxa Techno Security Solutions
“[It] explains, very nicely, what remains human when AI makes the execution of tasks cheap. … As a writer, I found this book very rich in making sense of AI and anxieties surrounding it. For those navigating this uncertainty, this book offers much needed clarity.”
Mayank Jain ParichhaBollywood writer and former journalist at Outlook, Mumbai
